Following Interesting Posts on Facebook
By Lucie
Imagine you read a fascinating post on Facebook and you want to see how everyone responds. There are a few ways to follow, or receive notifications for these interesting posts.
The most common way I see people do this, is by writing the word “following” in the comment sections on the post. This will definitely do the trick but there are a few downsides to this way. Firstly, imagine if you were the original poster and asked a really important, time sensitive, question. They may rush to their phone once they hear the notification from Facebook stating that they have an answer. However, your “following” response is what they see. Also imagine if they received 7 or possibly 10 of those. Or even imagine if you were the original poster. It will also take you and others extra time to weed through those responses, in order to get to the answers. So basically, it will do the job, but have some negatives.
Another way to tackle this is
to use a one finger swipe up on the post, from the newsfeed, to turn on notifications. This can be easily done by flicking up on the desired post, with one finger, until you hear more. Your rotor must be set to the actions setting in order for this to work. Once you flick up and hear more, single finger double tap on it. Now an options box will appear swipe all the way to the bottom and select more again. The more option is the very last option, and you will need to single finger double tap again. Another option box will appear and you will need to select turn on notifications for this post. Once this is selected, all comments placed on the original post will appear in your notifications tab.
Say these notifications become way to much, and your phone is blowing up with notifications, repeat the above process. You will select turn off notifications for this post instead.
A quick note, if you two finger double tap on the original post, the same menu will appear. So you are able to get to the options menu, either by one finger single flicking up, or two finger double tapping on the post.
Another thing to note is that in some cases the turn on notifications for this post, will appear in the first options box. It seems to depend on who posted the post or whether it was shared by someone. In either case using these steps to bring up the options box, will allow you to get to the right area to turn on the notifications. The only downside to this way is that it may take a few seconds. It is very easy to do and will allow you to stay in the loop with your favorite posts.
Step by step directions
1. Flick up one time on the original post from the newsfeed
2. Once you hear, more, single finger double tap on it
3. Once the options box appears, swipe to the bottom
4. Once you hear, more, single finger double tap again
5. Swipe until you hear, turn on notifications, for this post
6. Once you hear that, single finger double tap on it
7. Now check your notifications tab for comments posted to that post
Remember, your rotor must be in the actions setting in order to accomplish this task. Also remember, you can two finger double tap on the post, from the newsfeed, in order to bring up this same options box. Repeat these steps, if you want to turn off notifications at some point.
Yet another way to follow your favorite Facebook posts is to tap on the, more button, from within the post itself. Underneath the posters name and time of posting, you will find a more button there. Single finger double tap on it and that same options box will appear. Similar to accessing the more button from the newsfeed, this options box may be a little different depending on how the post was shared. If it was an original post from the poster you will probably have to select more again to get to the, turn on notifications for this post. Otherwise, the, turn on notifications for this post will appear on the first menu. You are also able to turn off notifications for a post using the above steps from within a post.
