Add That Attachment from Anywhere!
By Lucie
The Problem
Are you ever out and about and someone needs a file ASAP from you? Or perhaps, you forgot to e-mail that file to your college group. In those ancient days, this was a real problem. It required you to be at your desktop computer. Well not anymore thankfully. You can do it from practically anywhere these days.
Okay, I am unsure if it can be done from the moon.
What You Will need?
Well, you can do it from your iDevice as long as you have a cloud service. So, if you have DropBox, iCloud, OneDrive or Google Drive, it can be done. Note that the default location is iCloud of course. Apple likes it that way. You can attach files from the other cloud services, you might just have to tell your iDevice to allow them to join in.
How It Is Done?
The first thing you will need to do is open up an e-mail that you will attach the files to. Click inside the message body, and turn your rotor to edit. Once there, swipe with one finger downwards until you hear attach a file. One finger double tap on that.
Now you will select your location for getting this file attachment. If you want iCloud you’re already there. Just flick through until you hear the name of the desired file and single finger double tap on it.
Maybe you are like me though and prefer DropBox. In this case, along with the other cloud services, you will need to hit the location button at the top of the screen. Once there, swipe through the various options and select your desired service. For example single finger double tap on DropBox. Then your DropBox will appear, and you can find the file you want to attach. Note that some cloud services will be set to off, so you must turn them on. This can be done by hitting the more button after you hit the location button.
Single finger double tap on the file and it will attach to the e-mail. You will land back in the message body area after attaching the file. It will let you know that you have attached a file. Very helpful I know.
What if You Attach the Wrong One?
Say you attached your famous brownie recipe instead of your group assignment. No worries. Just shake your device and you can undo the attachment. Thankfully, your famous recipe will be safe for now! On second thought, if you want to e-mail it to me, I will keep it safe. *Wink*
I Want to Do It Again!
This attaching files thing is so much fun, you should do it again. Well, the awesome thing is you can. Just repeat the above steps and you will be ready to rock. This is awesome because some of the file attaching apps in the past only allowed you to attach one file at a time. Boo! If you try to share a file from DropBox by e-mailing it, it sends the recipient a link. I am not sure about you, but when I send a link instead of an attachment, people get grumpy. So let’s avoid that! So have fun attaching files instead.
