So you’ve got some new products and some really cool products here for low vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Timothy:
Yes, we do actually. And for those who don’t know who Eschenbach is, we are a manufacturer of high-quality magnification devices, including electronic devices and optical products too. And on my table here, I’ve got actually two of our newest electronic devices. The first one is a desktop video magnifier that folds down flat. It’s called the Vario Digital, and it’s about a 15-inch screen, and it has all the basic features to it where you can change magnification and contrast. But there’s also a menu item where you can go in and have more advanced level features added like underline, lines, lines, things of that nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Timothy:
But the key about it really is that it’s portable. A person could actually take it with them. It weighs about 15 pounds, so it’s not the lightest in the world, but it can be taken from location to location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jeff Thompson:
Yeah, just like hauling a briefcase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Timothy:
Exactly. And next to it there’s a smaller device. It’s a 12-inch electronic device called the Visolux Digital XL, and it’s designed for those who do want more portability with their device. It’s got a touchscreen to it, which makes it kinda nice. So people are used to using their iPads to make things larger by pinching and grabbing, and they can do that with this device as well. Same idea with magnification, color combinations, underlining. This one also does plug into an external monitor. So if you’re looking at photographs, and you want to see it on an even bigger screen, you can actually plug that into a TV as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jeff Thompson:
So this is great for someone that’s … well especially the small one. You could bring that to the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Timothy:
Exactly. You can make to a classroom, you can take it at home from room to room. It’s really meant for any kind of age group. The settings on it, depending on the individual, you can have a caregiver set the settings to what you want and then you don’t need to worry about it. Or if you are more adept and want to jump into the more advanced-level settings, you can actually play around with those too. But it can be very simple to use the device too, depending on what your needs are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jeff Thompson:
Well, this is really something that I would think that counselors could just suggest to clients as a solution to accessing the material right on the spot in a classroom. And you actually have some webinars that deal with this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Timothy:
Yes, we do. So for those TBIs and counselors who work with those that have vision loss, Eschenbach does put on webinars to help educate them about the different categories of devices and what the features and benefits are of those, so that they will be more knowledgeable when they’re working with their clients to then maybe have a better idea of which kind of device might be best for them.
