\nCalculating Variance and Standard Deviation in Excel <\/p>\n

\n So, you need to calculate variance and standard deviation in Excel? I am assuming that you are in stats right now. I would not imagine you would want to do these calculations to fulfill something on your bucket list.
\nSo Let\u2019s Get It Over With!
\nThere are a few ways you can do these calculations.
\nThe first is
\n by putting your data set into a column
\nOnce there enter the desired cell where you will put the answer
\nNow, start with pressing the = sign
\nYou will hear your screen reader say enter the formula and press enter
\nWoo! Getting to the Nitty Gritty Now!
\nTo calculate variance
\nType VAR (Victor, Alpha, Romeo)
\nThen determine if your data is from a sample or population
\nHmmm\u2026.
\nIf it is from a sample (not the whole population)
\nEnter period s (sierra) after VAR
\nWithout any spacing
\nIf you have a population, enter period p (papa)
\nHang In There We Are Almost Done!
\nNow that we have the beginning sorted out lets determine whose getting calculated
\nOpen your prentices and enter the name of the first cell name you want to calculate
\nThen put a colon in between (sounds kind of weird)
\nNow enter the second cell address at the end of the data
\nClose those prentices and press enter!!!!
\nExample: VAR.s(A1:A5)
\nDo not put any spaces or Excel gets very mad at you and tells you to stop!
\nStill With Me?
\nThere is another way!
\nThe beginning is the same but inside the prentices is different
\nInstead of cell addresses you enter the data separated by commas
\nFor Example: VAR.s(1,2,3,4,5)
\nNow Are You Hyped Up Enough for Standard Deviation?
\nLucky for us the concept is very similar!
\nStart with the = sign again
\nNow type STDEV
\n(Sierra, Tango, Delta, Echo, Victor)
\nEnter a period
\nDo not forget about papa and sierra!
\nNow open the prentices and enter either cell addresses or data values
\nExample: STDEV.s(A1:A5)
\nOr, STDEV.s(1,2,3,4,5)
\nOkay We are Done<\/p>\n

Did We Do It Right?
\nRemember that Variance is a squared value, so it cannot be negative! If your answer is negative it is wrong!
\nYour standard deviation value should be smaller than your variance
\nVariance is the squared value of standard deviation
\nStandard deviation is the square root of variance
\nTry it out square your standard deviation, does it match your variance?
\nFor example if your variance is 4, your standard deviation is 2
\nThey will never be negative!
\nChecking Our Work:
\nIn our example VAR.s(1,2,3,4,5) the answer is 2.5
\nStandard Deviation is; 1.58 (rounded to 2 decimal places)
